Things Happen For A Reason

I woke up this morning & went right back to bed
Tangled thoughts keep pouring through my troubled head
I feel like my heart, is no longer made of gold
It all fell apart, & now I’m just getting old
I’ll wake up tomorrow, and hope that I can try
If things happen for a reason, well just tell me why?

I’ve lived in New York and I’ve lived in Amsterdam

I’m a living transient, doing the best that I can
I’ve learned a lot about you, movements made in stealth
If you want to cook the stew, you gotta stir the pot yourself
I’ve said some words that would just make you cry
If things happen for a reason, well just tell me why?

The sparkle is gone, my soul blistered with fear

Your Kingdom come, I guess it wasn’t here
I know I’m not famous, no one asks for my autograph
And I sometimes worry, am I on the right path
You got something to say?  Well just look me in the eye
If things happen for a reason, well just tell me why?

Sherry’s dog Mandy, she saw the rainbow today

The other dogs won’t believe her, now she’s gone astray
Do things without merit, you simply must withdraw
It’s cautionary proof, not to believe in Santa Claus
So, today I leave this foreign country & fly across the sky
If things happen for a reason, well just tell me why?
